I love this. The idea that men are just as objectified as women in comic books is laughable. Kind of like the men’s rights activists who cite the draft as “lady privilege.” Who draws comic books? Who makes the majority of laws? And as the character here points out, men in comic books look like a man’s idea of a perfect man. I don’t know anybody who’s like, “Yeah, I want a super buff guy, like scary inhumanly buff; the idea of pectoral muscles bigger than a flank steak makes my loins frothy.” NOBODY.

I agree, and believe this is just another realm of media in which feminism can benefit both men and women. Sexism builds up terrible expectations of men just as it tears down women.

Dude….YES.

It seriously disappoints me when my fellow Jews (usually Orthodox or ultra-Orthodox, to be fair) protest LGBT rights. While homosexual behavior is forbidden by the Torah (specifically Leviticus), the extent to which it is considered an “abomination” is similar to marrying an infertile spouse, in that it is undesirable if procreation is the goal. Jews have a history of endorsing LGBT civil liberties, since, “in Judaism, one is only responsible for religious obligations that one can freely choose to fulfill” (source). Judaism is about questioning and making educated personal interpretations, and I hope Jews will illustrate the forward-thinking and compassion that makes us a light unto the nations.

Question: what is Mitt Romney’s case to be president? He was a one-term governor of Massachusetts, where he ended pretty unpopular — but he did pass a healthcare plan which (Obama) has now passed for America. We call it Obama / Romneycare. …Aside from that, he made a lot of money in private equity —and that is his claim! He’s saying, ‘Trust me, I made lots of money — that means I know how to run America!’

A good question.

  • Cooper: I imagine if it was putting Jews behind electrified fences, you'd be saying something different.
  • Pritchard: Now, here we go again. We all know that's not gonna happen--
  • Cooper: Actually, that has happened. It's called the Holocaust.

  • Bodies are hairy. No matter the gender, your face will have hair and that is more than okay.
  • Your butthole is going to have some hair too. And maybe your nipples. And your tummy. And where ever else.
  • Stretch marks. Those are a thing. Everyone gets ‘em. If you don’t, you probably don’t have skin.
  • Vaginas smell. Every vagina has a scent. Don’t worry about it! (Unless something seems wrong, then go get it checked out! No need to feel embarrassed or ashamed.)
  • Vaginas come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, flavors. All are beautiful.
  • Penises come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, flavors. All are beautiful.
  • You don’t need to shave anything if you don’t want to. It’s tooootally not mandatory.
  • Sometimes people get butt acne.
  • You can have a vagina and want short hair and think dresses are just the worst.
  • You can have a penis and want long hair and think dresses are just the best.
  • You can wear whatever you want and style your hair however you want.
  • You can even think whatever the hell you want.
  • People might tell you that you are a girl because you have a vagina. People might tell you that you are a boy because you have a penis. People will tell you what your gender is. But in reality, you don’t have to be that gender. You don’t have to be either of those genders.
  • You are what you are and it’s just the worst thing if you try and hide that.

We don’t eliminate racism by pretending it doesn’t exist. Evil flourishes in the dark. You kill evil by dragging it out into the light, putting it under a lamp, and interrogating it.

Why it’s important to interrogate our cultural assumptions.
